Storm Damage

Now I know why the Sawmill River Parkway is called "the Sawmill."  Trees snapped under the weight of the snow during the last storm, and along the sides of the road lie broken branches, sawed trunks.  Perhaps the Sawmill River was indeed where sawed and fallen trees were floated to a Sawmill.  Otherwise, one must assume the passage forms a wind tunnel, funneling high velocity winds that knock over and split trees along the way.   Some split half way looked like ducks squawking with gaping mouths of freshly exposed wood.
